ESS Workshop on the use administrative data for business, agriculture and fisheries statistics

The ESS Workshop will be held on 17 and 18 October 2019 in Bucharest, Romania, at the Conference Centre of the National Statistical Institute of Romania (CCINS).

The meeting will start at 09:30 on 17 October and end around 16:00 on 18 October.

The National Statistical Institute is located downtown, near the Parliament of Romania and the park Izvor (see map).

The workshop aims to encourage technical discussions on how the ESS members continue to move towards a production system for business, agriculture and fisheries statistics using more extensively administrative data. It will also be an opportunity to display and exchange the results of the ESS Vision 2020 ADMIN project which is approaching its end (2015-2019).

Please note that presentations/discussions covering business statistics will be scheduled only on 17 October. The presentations on agriculture and fisheries statistics can be scheduled on both 17 and 18 October.

Call For Papers

This workshop organised by Eurostat aims to give the opportunity to experts in the European Statistical System to contribute papers discussing their experience or ideas on the use of administrative data in the areas of agriculture, fisheries and business statistics, presenting experiences, achievements, examples, practical applications, lessons learnt and plans for future developments that they consider worthwhile.

The workshop will take place at the premises of the National Statistical Institute of Romania,(Romania), Bulevardul Libertății 16, Bucharest. The National Institute of Statistics has the mission to meet the information needs of all categories of users of statistical data and information by collecting, producing and disseminating data in accordance with the Law on the Organization and Functioning of Official Statistics in Romania.

  Train "Hendri Coanda Express" trains

These trains connect Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport and Bucharest North Railway Station. The passengers can reach the CFR “Airport Stop” by shuttle buses departing from the Arrivals Terminal.

Tickets for the train/transfer bus are available at the ticket office located in the International Arrivals public area, as well as from all the railway station ticket offices and travel agencies in the country. One ticket costs 6,8 lei.

  Bus

The 780 Express line connects Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport with the Gara de Nord (main railway station).

The 783 Express line connects Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport with the city center. This line runs day and night. At night, the bus leaves every 40 minutes.

Airport stops

In front of the Arrivals Terminal and Departures Terminal. Price for one trip is 3,5 lei. The magnetic card valid for two travels costs 7 lei.

  Taxi

Licensed taxis without prior request, with fares between 1.39 lei/km and 3.5 lei/km, with a total about 20 €, will be available at the exit of Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport.

Touch screen terminals for taxi requests are available for customers who want to order taxi from a certain company.

Approaching customers, both by taxi drivers and by middlemen, is sanctioned by taxi law (Law 38/2003). Any violation of the law in the airport area shall be handled by the Transport Police (phone number: +4021 201 3242).

Ride-sharing apps Taxify and Uber are well-established in Bucharest and present a good alternative to the city’s often unreliable taxis. Prices (around 1.39 lei per kilometre) are about the same as for standard yellow cabs.


ATTENTION! Do not let yourself approached by fake taxi drivers!

Tickets for the metro can be purchased at all metro stations. Tickets valid for two journeys cost 5 lei, daily tickets cost 8 lei and tickets valid for ten journeys cost 20 lei. For more information please visit the website.

In order to ride Bucharest's buses, trolleybuses or trams, you need to buy an Activ or Multiplu card in advance. Both are available at the RATB kiosks which can be found next to major bus and tram stops. The Multiplu card (which is blue and white) costs 1.60 lei and needs to be loaded (when purchasing) with one day0s unlimited travel, or two to ten journeys (which each cost 1.30 lei). After the initial purchase, the Multiplu card cannot be topped-up. The green and white Activ card costs 3.70 lei but can be topped-up with anything from 2.60 to 50 lei at a time. Travel Costs


The workshop sessions will be organised around two areas

  1. Business statistics
  2. Agriculture and fisheries statistics.

The travel expenses for one delegate per EU Member State for each area will be financed.

  • The travel expenses of the participants registered for business statistics will be financed by Eurostat according to the European Commission rules on the reimbursement of expenses incurred by people from outside the Commission invited to attend meetings in an expert capacity.
  • The travel expenses for the participants for agriculture and fisheries statistics will be financed by Eurostat through DEVSTAT, Servicios de Consultoría Estadística, according to the European Commission rules on the reimbursement of expenses incurred by people from outside the Commission invited to attend meetings in an expert capacity

Please note that the reimbursement does not include accommodation and per diem.

For enlargement countries, the cost for participation in the meeting may be supported by a Multi-Beneficiary Statistical Cooperation Programme in force on the date of the meeting.
Please check with your Department of International Cooperation whether this meeting fulfils the necessary conditions.

Should you prefer to buy your air/train tickets yourself, please be so kind to submit your travel itinerary to us for approval. You could contact us at ess-workshop-admindata-valencia2019@devstat.com. In this case you will have to bring the invoice of your travel agency.

In any case, travel expenses will be refunded according to the following modalities:

  1. Travel by air: reimbursement up to the average cost of an economy class ticket at the time of reservation;
  2. Travel by rail: reimbursement up to the maximum cost of a second class ticket.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed by bank transfer (please provide us complete bank details, including IBAN and BIC codes, for international transfers) at the end of the workshop upon presentation of the original receipt from a travel agency, or a valid electronic invoice (if ticket has been purchased online).

Should your air ticket be an e-ticket, please send us a valid purchase receipt, on the contrary, for ordinarily issued air-ticket, you will need to handle the original receipt or invoice on the first day of the workshop in Bucharest.

As to speed the procedure up, let us invite you to send us the scanned copy of your passport.
